What are Dermal Fillers?
A dermal filler is a product delivered by injection that fills in the deeper wrinkles or folds, like the laugh lines around your nose or the lines that come off the corners of your mouth (marionette lines). It can also add volume lose in your mid-cheek or other areas like lips or temples, to name a few places. There are all different kinds of fillers that can last anywhere from six months to two years.
Fillers are made from different ingredients, but at About Face Anti-Aging Institute, we use Juvederm products from Allergan, which are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your body. It gives great results because it’s hydrating and filling, and is reversible.
Mr. Garberich uses the Juvederm family of fillers from Allergan, which include Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Voluma, Juvederm Vollure, and Juvederm Volbella. Each one is a different thickness and is injected differently. As a certified master injector from Allergan, he understands which filler to use for each client’s needs. Often times what he uses for one client may not yield the ideal results for another client. That is why his training and expertise is fundamental for you to meet your aesthetic goals, as well as an in-depth consultation prior to your treatment.
Juvederm Volbella is made to be injected very close to the surface of the skin, creating very subtle, yet significant results. This can eliminate wrinkles in the lips or the lines above the lips, known as “smoker’s lines.”
Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Vollure
Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Vollure are used to add volume to the lips. Vollure is a bit less voluminous but lasts a bit longer than Ultra, so understanding the client’s goals is fundamental. Generally younger clients want more volume while older clients are looking to recover the volume their lips have lost with age. Understanding not only which filler to use, but how and where to inject filler on the lips is fundamental to achieving a beautiful shape.
Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Vollure
Juvederm Ultra Plus and Vollure are perfect for filling in laugh lines and marionette lines as they are soft but create more volume than Ultra and Volbella. Mr. Garberich also uses Vollure to treat dark circles or hollowness under the eyes.
Voluma is the thickest filler in the Juvederm family, more lifting and long-lasting. It is used to give lift to the mid-face area, as well as add volume to the temples to reshape the face and avoid a skeletal look. It can also be used in the chin to contour the jawline.
Am I a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?
Men and women with moderate to severe facial lines, wrinkles and folds in the forehead, eye, nose and mouth areas may be candidates for treatment with dermal fillers. Prior to treatment, Mr. Garberich will meet with you during an in depth consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals, as well as his recommendations for a treatment plan that will help you achieve those goals.
