#1 Who Is The Right Candidate For Dermal Fillers?
- Anyone, a male/female, who is physically fit.
- Anyone who has wrinkles forming on their face & wants to treat them.
- In the case of women, pregnant & women who are breastfeeding are not allowed to undergo this procedure.
- A person who is allergic to any form of dermal fillers or ingredients should not opt for this treatment.
Note: Your face at the time of the treatment needs to be free from any kind of infection. If you have a skin infection, your dermatologist will probably ask you to postpone the treatment until the infection is gone.
#2 What To Ask Your Doctor During Your Consultation?
A one-on-one discussion with your physician is the foundation for the Dermal Fillers treatment. At About Face Anti-Aging Institute, we understand that this meeting will help you & your doctor figure out the procedure and schedule, then you both can decide what you require.
During your meeting, you can discuss what to expect from the procedure & how the doctor will help you achieve it. Meeting before the procedure decreases the chances of disappointment post-treat because clear objectives are in place.
The doctor will take pictures of your face & examine the depth & severity of the wrinkles. He will also define how much Dermal filler will be required for your procedure. He will explain how much time it will take for the results to show.
Below are a few questions you can ask during the consultation:
Am I a suitable candidate for this procedure?
What should I expect from this treatment?
What precautions should I take in the days leading up to the treatment?
What will be my average recovery time?
What precaution should I take to get the best results from this procedure?
What steps will I need to take to maintain my face after the treatment?
Are there any risks & safety concerns that I need to be aware of?
What is the cost of the Dermal Fillers treatment?
#3 What Happens Before The Dermal Fillers Procedure?
The Surgeon will ask you to have some routine blood tests a week before the treatment. He might also ask you to stop some of your regular medicines to avoid any type of conflicts with the injections. If you are a smoker, you will have to give up smoking in the few weeks leading up to the procedure.
Note- Please bring someone with you because you will need help with getting home safely.
#4 What Happens During The Procedure?
The Plastic Surgeon will mark the injection sites. He will then proceed to clean-up the injection sites with a potent antibacterial agent.
The patient will be given local anaesthesia at the injection site to make the procedure comfortable & pain-free. Sometimes surgeons also opt for an anaesthetic cream that is applied to the skin. This causes the skin to numb & get ready for injections.
Finally, the Surgeon will inject the selected sites with the required quantities of dermal fillers & will also massage it (this helps spread the filler) & evaluate whether more is needed.
Dermal Filler treatment usually involves multiple injection sites.
Note – Sometimes, patients do experience pain during the procedure, but this pain is minimal & tolerable.
#5 What Happens After The Procedure?
An ice-pack is one of the best ways to begin recovery. It decreases discomfort & swelling. Doctors suggest using ice-packs regularly during the recovery period. You may see redness at the injection sites, but it gradually fades away during the recovery period. Your face may be hypersensitive towards touch & movement for some time. This is also common & is to be expected post-procedure.
Patients can resume normal activities immediately. But we strongly advise patients not to perform actions that can tire them out physically like exercise, hiking or sports-based activities. Such physical exercises can be resumed 48 hrs after the procedure.
We also advise patients not to undergo dental treatments after a Dermal Fillers procedure because oral medicines may cause the fillers to spread & settle in wrong positions.
